A GREAT Weekend

Anniversary Weekend (#6!)

This last weekend was our 6 year anniversary.  Since we're being gazelles (Dave Ramsey term..) and focusing on debt paying, we didn't get to go on the Bermuda or Jamaica trips I had planned. :)  HOWEVER, we did spend the whole weekend together, and it was WONDERFUL!

We had originally planned to spend the whole weekend camping, but due to a rainy forecast Friday night, we decided to stay around home for the evening.  We went out to dinner at Cafe Shi and saw "X-Men, First Class".  LOVED supper and LOVED the movie. :)  My favorite tradition at anniversaries is that we write in our "note" book.  My friend Jen gave us this book when we got married, and it's where we keep all our notes to each other and write down memories, thoughts, things we learn about each other.  We wrote quite a bit in the book this anniversary, and it was so much fun to process where we've been and where we're going together!

On Saturday we slept in until 9, read until 10, and then got our stuff together and headed over to Saylorville Lake!  The last time we went camping was when we were in India and hiking, so we had been pretty minimal.  And while we were still minimal on this trip, we DEFINITELY stepped into a different world of camping!  We didn't get to the campground until around noon, so most of the spots had been booked.  We ended up getting a sweet corner lot right by the bike trail...but we were the only tenters in the whole section!  Not only that, we were the only 2-person tiny tent tenters, which we pitched right next to the massive campers with their showers and air conditioning.  Ha!

Rode the new bike a lot this weekend, and loved every second!

Our mini tent. :)

Ah, ever heard of a bike rack?  Might need to be our next purchase!

Hung out at coffee shops Saturday night and Sunday morning...nice time to just be together!

We absolutely loved this time away.  It was perfect for us, we loved being alone and together, and we got to explore!  Neither of us had been to Saylorville in a long time, and we definitely had never explored it.  We rode a good chunk of the bike trail and drove around (almost!) the whole lake to get to know the area and surrounding campsites.  It's such a great place!  It made me excited to find what other neat things there are in Iowa that I don't know about. :)

Father's Day
We got to celebrate with both of our dads on Sunday in Ankeny, and it was so great.  Both Chris and I are very blessed to have wonderful, supportive, loving fathers, and we loved being able to let them know how much they mean to us.  WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

At Chili's to celebrate with most of the Farley's.  We love you Tom!
