Jonathan and I will randomly stop by place we see when we are traveling to different places in Iowa. One of our favorite funny stops was at the house where the American Gothic was painted. It was totally random and we took a similar pictures using our ice scraper (we have one with a long pole) instead of a pitch fork. The house was actually TINY! We have also seen a few of Frank Lloyd Wright stuff. My advice, is plan a few extra minutes for those interesting things you see as you are going places:)

Check out any of the state parks! They're great and cheap. Southwest Iowa is where I'm from- check out Shenandoah's butterfly house or Glenwood's earth lodge and Lake Park. Indianola, in central Iowa, is home of the National Hot Air Balloon Museum, which is an interesting experience.
