Hiking with Hooligans

As last week was the final week of school, there were plenty of "fun days" - swimming, movies, hiking, games, parties, the list goes on. :) Two of the teachers here left early because they're expecting their first baby any day now (yay Bovens!), so I got to take their advisor group on a hike! It was a BEAUTIFUL day with great kids, and exactly what I needed to get out of the grind and let go. :)

We hiked to Witch's Hill - so named because it gets struck by lightning so often! Apparently every time someone has tried to build a house somewhere on the hill it's bee struck by lightning and burned right up. Bummer!

My Samiha girl...

Darab (the outdoor education guy) was with us, and pointed out wild sorrel. It was pretty sour...

We had to walk through Dhobi-ghat to get to the trail. Dhobi-ghat is the "village" for all the Dhobis (the guys that wash clothes for a living). It was really neat to see!

Raheel and Asha, enjoying the view.

The whole group - smile!

There's a big cave that's left over from the mining days. Some of the more adventurous boys went in pretty far.

Kids walking home from school...Apparently some people do live on Witch's Hill!

Yeon Sol...

Laundry next to the temple.

Sarees on the line...

Contemplating life.

On a TOTALLY unrelated note - my SISTER IS COMING TOMORROW! I'm leaving at 3:30 AM to catch my train down to Delhi, and then will spend the day with a student at her mom's hotel, and drop her (my student) off at the airport in time to also pick Amy up! I'm SO EXCITED!!!!
