Event #3: Elementary Sports Day!

Two weekends ago we had Elementary Sports Day...and it was a BLAST! On this day, all the elementary kids go down to the big sports field to compete in relays, races, and field events. There were many tears (both from competition anger and injury), and many, many smiles. :) I was in charge of running long-jump, so there aren't any pictures from there...but enjoy the rest!

Two fifth grade cuties, showing their team pride.

"Go Merlins!"

This was SERIOUSLY the funniest relay I've ever seen in my life! The ECP (early childhood program) through 3rd graders had to run to a pole that had a donut tied to it, pull off the donut, eat it COMPLETELY, then run back. The poor little 4-year-olds had some difficulty getting the whole donut down, and there were more than a few tears!

Don't they look miserable?!

You probably didn't know this, but qualifications for P.E. teachers in India are a bit more difficult than in the U.S.: in addition to being sporty and being able to yell at kids, you ALSO have to be able to tie donuts onto a pole with a string. Not everyone can do this people!

The Spoon-Lemon Relay Race had much fewer tears, and but lots of "sour" results!
(that pun is dedicated to my mama!)

"Game face? Check."

"On your marks....get set..."

"GO!"

"You mean we get to jump around in sacks?!"

"Oh no you don't!!"

Here at Woodstock we practice non-exclusivity...EVERYONE WINS!!!

"Who knew a 3-legged race could be so exhausting?!"

Wait a minute...I thought this was an Elementary Sports Day?!?!
